Podium finish for Isaac Tutumlu at Sebring
Brilliant performance delivered by Tutumlu as the Spanish racing driver of Kurdish ancestry stepped into the podium of Pro-Am class in the Super Trofeo Series. Tutumlu finished 3rd in race one and then, in rain-hit race two, was significantly faster than anyone else with the Leipert Motorsport-entered Lamborghini Huracan.
Isaac Tutumlu has had a great run in both races of the Super Trofeo Europe, which were held at Sebring today. After qualifying session, Tutumlu was in the top-ten of Pro-Am class but his new teammate, Germany´s Harald Schlotter, lost time during the opening stages of the race.
When the pit window opened, Spaniard of Kurdish heritage took over the Lamborghini from Schlotter. He charged from 31th overall to finish in the top-ten overall and 3rd in class. He could have further improved his result but the safety car was deployed at the end of the race. Race two took place in wet conditions and Tutumlu put in a recovery drive to finish 7th overall from 30rd place. Without doubt it was a stellar performance.
“I am extremely happy because it was my first experience at Sebring and I achieved two excellent results following two recovery drives from the back of the field. Our Lamborghini is not the same car we used in Europe and we experienced some brakes issues but still our performance was fairly good. In wet conditions I was the fastest man on track with the single exception of a driver who was on slick tires. A factory Lamborghini driver crashed into my car and I lost five seconds, otherwise I could have had a shot even for overall podium”, Tutumlu detailed.
The Super Trofeo World Final will kick off tomorrow with qualifying and race one.
