Isaac Tutumlu fought through adversity at Sebring

Following his brilliant performance last Friday during both Super Trofeo Europe races, when the Spanish driver of Kurdish ancestry stepped onto the podium, he was less fortunate during the Super Trofeo World Final. Tutumlu finished 11th on Saturday and was forced to retire on Sunday. .

Isaac Tutumlu couldn´t repeat his Super Trofeo Europe performance at historic Sebring International Raceway last weekend. Spaniard of Kurdish roots managed to achieve two amazing results last Friday when, at the wheel of the Lamborghini Huracan entered by Leipert Motorsport and shared with Harald Schlotter, he finished 3rd in Pro-Am class in race one and then emerged as the fastest driver during rain-hit race two. Contesting the World Final, Tutumlu came 11th on Saturday and couldn´t reach the finish line on Sunday.

“Saturday´s race was particularly difficult, because I took over the car from Harald at the back of the field. This time the safety car didn´t come out, so I couldn´t regain the places he had lost during his stint. Anyway I am encouraged because the race leader was right behind during my stint to lap us, but he couldn´t overtake me”, Tutumlu said. Regarding the second race, the driver from Barcelona underlined “our race was pretty fairly similar. I rejoined after the pit stop almost two minutes behind the leader and I was closing on the cars ahead but suddenly the car oversteered and I crashed. I guess it was caused by some kind of mechanical issue. Preferring the best, it was nice to claim a podium finish on Friday and discover Sebring. I am looking forward to racing again in the future there, maybe in the 12 hours. I have put even more experience under my belt with the car. Now we need to focus on 2016. My first stop should at the 24 hours of Dubai, but neither team nor car is decided.”
