Isaac Tutumlu to contest ADAC GT Masters with Car Collection
Spaniard of Kurdish ancestry has reached an agreement to drive a Car Collection-entered Audi R8 LMS in the tenth season of the ADAC GT Masters. The German championship is one of the most competitive, fastest GT3 series in the world and visits historic venues such as Hockenheim, Zandvoort and Nürburgring.
Isaac Tutumlu will make his debut in the ADAC GT Masters as the Barcelona-born driver has reached an agreement with Car Collection Motorsport to compete together in this year´s championship with an Audi R8 LMS. Tutumlu, a Spaniard with Kurdish roots, delivered a sensational performance earlier this year at the 24 hours of Dubai, as he grabbed 3rd step on the podium and his lap times were always on pace with Ingolstadt-based manufacturer factory drivers.
The ADAC GT Masters will visit seven renowned European circuits such as Oschersleben (16-17 April), Sachsenring (30 April-1 May), Lausitzring (4-5 June), Red Bull Ring (23-24 July), Nürburgring (6-7 August), Zandvoort (20-21 September) and Hockenheim (1-2 October). There are several factory-backed teams and drivers such as Laurens Vanthoor, Kévin Estre, Christopher Mies, Marc Basseng, Martin Ragginger or Luca Stolz.
“I am very proud to join Car Collection Motorsport for 2016 as they will be supported by Audi throughout the season. I would particularly like to thank Peter Schmidt, Car Collection, Audi and of course my sponsors for giving the opportunity to enter this amazing championship. My podium finish and performance in Dubai also played a key role to make this project feasible”, Tutumlu explains. Regarding the ADAC GT Masters, Tutumlu comments that “it is the championship for GT3 cars with the most high profile, because there are plenty of famous names, either drivers or teams. In fact, it is gaining in popularity among German brands and the championship is a DTM´s recognized ante-chamber. Actually, several drivers moved into the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters recently. It is an incredible chance to compete with a factory-backed team. I don´t know who is going to be my team-mate this season but he could be a Junior driver from Audi programme. So, we should be competitive enough. We have scheduled our first test early next month. I´ve never raced at tracks such as Oschersleben, Red Bull Ring or Sachsenring, but it won´t be problem but will give me extra motivation. Besides, I could drive for Car Collection in some 24H Series races, so it´s going to be an exciting year!”.
