SA’s Sheldon van der Linde all set for Audi Sport TT Cup race debut
17-year old double South African Engen Volkswagen Polo Cup champion Sheldon van der Linde is set for the biggest step in his race career as he heads to Germany for his European Audi TT Cup debut at Hockenheim 7-8 May. Also one of three 2016 Audi Sport Race Academy students, Sheldon is very well prepared and ready for the big day.

”It’s going to be a very big weekend for me,” Sheldon admitted. “I’m really excited to finally get the season started after months of excitement building up to this first race, so naturally the expectations are high and the pressure is on to deliver a strong debut performance in Hockenheim next weekend.”

The Audi Sport TT Cup, which runs as a curtain raiser to the DTM German Touring Car series, is a recognised feeder series to the DTM, GT, Le Mans and other leading international race championships, with its Scirocco Cup predecessor series already proving the launchpad of several top race careers including those of rising South African ADAC GT Masters stars, Sheldon’s elder brother Kelvin van der Linde and Jordan Pepper.

“I have spent months preparing for this and I’ve worked extremely hard to be in perfect physical and mental condition for this season,” Johannesburg driver van der Linde explained. “I also gained a lot of knowledge of the car and track at the official test day last month, so we head into the race with great confidence and I feel optimistic for a good result!”
