Canamasas joins Carlin for season-opening round

The fairly seasoned driver has made an agreement to drive a Carlin-entered car at his home event in Barcelona. The GP2 Series kicks off the 2016 season at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in the frame of the Spanish F.1 Grand Prix.

Sergio Canamasas and Carlin have reached an agreement by which Spain´s racer will drive one of their Dallaras GP2/11 at GP2 season opener in Barcelona. The round held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has become a must-attend event for Canamasas as he runs on home crowd motivation.

“I would not have missed it for the world! I´m very pleased that Carlin and I reached an agreement for Barcelona. I hope we will be able to sign a contract extension for the remaining races because our negotiations are well on track, because we only need to solve a couple of details”, Canamasas explains, underlining that “I am looking forward to positive results at home. When you join a new team, it´s never an easy task. But considering my experience with this car and at the track, I feel confident about overcoming difficulties”.

Both races will take place on Saturday (Feature race, 15.40) and Sunday (Sprint race, 10.25).
