The German team kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport from Berlin scored four positions in the points ranking at the fourth season event of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship last weekend (21st/22nd of May) in Spielberg (Austria). The Dane Mikkel Jensen finished twice on position five, his team colleague David Beckmann (both Dallara Mercedes-Benz) finished on position seven twice on Saturday at the 4.326 km long Red Bull Ring, where the season runs 10 to 12 were held in the main schedule of the DTM. Beckmann (from Hagen) as the rookie of the field, who contested his second racing weekend in this high class offspring championship, scored the first rookie title for the team from the German capital city and is on position two of the rookie standings at the moment.

„Altogether, it was a very good racing weekend for our two young drivers that did a great job. Their performance and the performance of our two cars showed that we are able to score podium placings“, said team principal Peter Mücke. At the opening race on Saturday afternoon, Mikkel Jensen finished fourth and David Beckmann fifth, so they were close to a podium placing already. But both got time penalties like a few other drivers as well, because they crossed the curbs and due to that the official result was quite different at the end of the race. „Because of these (in my opinion unreasonable) time penalties at the Red Bull Ring for almost half of the drivers field, the results don’t show the real potential“, said Peter Mücke.

Mücke pilot David Beckmann got time penalties already at the Qualifying and later at the final race on Sunday as well. He showed a great catch up race at the 12th season run from the end of the field and finished on position ten. After a penalty of 20 seconds he was classified 12th at the end. The young driver from Hagen got hit by a combatant already at the second lap. One lap after that, Mikkel Jensen got pushed off track by another combatant and resigned. The Dane improved his ranking at the drivers’ standings anyway to position eight. David Beckmann, who turned 16 (which is the minimum age for this competition) on the 27th of April, missed out on the first six races. He scored his first race points and is on overall position 16 at the moment. Winner of the opening race in Spielberg, which was aborted after a bad crash about seven laps before the end of the race, was the British Callum Ilott. The Canadian Lance Stroll (both Dallara Mercedes-Benz) won the following two runs and increased his overall leading position.

The next season event of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship is scheduled from 24th to 26th of June at the Norisring in Nürnberg. The pilots of the team kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport at the ADAC Formula 4 will have test drives already today and tomorrow (23rd/24th of May) at the Lausitzring near Klettwitz in southern Brandenburg. That is the preparation for the home race, which will be held in the main schedule of the first combined racing weekend of the DTM and ADAC GT Masters from 3rd to 5th of June. And the next event for the racing stable from the German capital city at the Formula 4 Italian championship is scheduled for coming weekend (27th to 29th of May) with the third racing weekend in Imola.
