ADAC German Formula 4 – ABERDEIN SHINES AT TOUGH LASISTZRING

SA’s Jonathan Aberdein delivers an impressive German Formula 4 performance. Cape Town driver Jonathan Aberdein endured a character building ADAC German Formula 4 weekend to deliver two impressive come from behind performances at the Lausitzring Eurospeedway in spite of a disappointing qualifying and being eliminated from the opening race in a twelve-car crash.

Qualifying proved disappointing to see Jonathan set to start well down the field in all three heats, a contributing factor to his being in the wrong place at the wrong time and becoming a victim of that crash involving a third of the field. But the second race went far better for Aberdein, who raced from a 24th position on the grid to finish thirteenth.

“I was happy with my second race after the disappointment of qualifying and the first race crash,” Jonathan admitted. “It was a very tough weekend until then, so I was happy to get a decent result in the end.”

Race 3 started in the wet behind the safety car with Aberdein back in 22nd, but once again he fought back gamely to run as high as ninth in a race where he worid eventually end thirteenth in a tough race through difficult conditions in thirteenth again. “That was much better,” Aberdein explained. “I was up to ninth – it was a busy race and the safety car kept on coming in and out, but in the end it was down to the wet tyres on a drying track and I lost a few positions.

“Still, the results we got were pretty good after all and I am learning so much so quickly — we are getting better all the time and I now look forward to keep on improving — now I can’t wait for the rest of the season.”

The ADAC roadshow now takes a summer holiday before returning to action at Austria’s Red Bull Ring 24-25 July.
