Motorland Aragón brings season to halfway point with two 50-minute and 3-hour races. After taking win in Barcelona and Navarra, the Mahon-born driver sits first overall
Faust Salom is ready for another round counting towards the Spanish Endurance Championship, which takes place at Motorland Aragón and is expected to be key to title tilt. The most important racing series in the Iberian Peninsula heads to Alcañiz, a name linked to motorsports in Spain, for its third exciting round of action-packed touring car action. Menorca´s driver, an emerging start in tin-top racing, made it two wins out of two in the series so far. His commanding win at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, which hosted the opening race, was followed by another strong run in Los Arcos Circuito de Navarra. Salom, sharing the Baporo Motorsport-entered SEAT Leon Cup Racer TCR with Jaume Font, also stepped first onto the podium in Navarra. As a consequence of his stunning season start, Salom sits first in Clase 1, TCR, D1, SEAT León Trophy and Junior drivers´ classifications, both in Spanish Endurance Championship and Long Distance. At Motorland, Spain´s racer seeks to extend winning streak and strengthen his lead before summer break. But Salom expects Alcañiz to be even tougher as sixty vehicles have been entered and the Baporo Motorsport pair will have to serve a huge time handicap after previous wins. Besides, weather forecast shows hot temperatures for next weekend. Faust Salom quotes:

“I´m looking forward to contest the round three of the Spanish Endurance Championship. My two previous triumphs were a nice start to the season and I aim to repeat victory but it will be harder than ever this season.

First, our class has already proven to be one of the most closely fought and the entry list is even stronger this time. Second, we have not one but two races ahead. Saturday´s race is due to take place at night, consisting of 48 minutes plus an additional lap. It will count towards the Spanish Endurance Championship. On Sunday, there is a 3-hour race. We will have handicap time, so we will have to work even harder. Anyway, our goal is to reach the best possible results.” “Weather conditions will be particularly demanding. Hot temperatures and long races imply an extra difficulty for drivers, either mentally and physically, and cars. But at the same time, racing gets much more challenging, exciting and enjoyable. Motorland is one my favorite race tracks. I claimed two class wins there in the CER last year and, besides, I finished first Rookie and Junior driver in the Clio Cup. It was a busy weekend!.” “I want to thank my sponsors TRIATGES MENORCA, MOTORISA, POTENCIA AND R-M PINTURAS because this program wouldn´t be possible without them. It is owing to them I sit first in the championship after winning two races. Of course, I also thank my fans on Facebook and social media for support. They all are a key morale boost for a driver.”
Following free practice and qualifying sessions on Saturday, the 48-minute race counting towards the Spanish Endurance Championship will take place at 21.50. On Sunday, the 3-hour race is due to start at 10.55. For additional information, visit my profile on Facebook.
