AVF takes double points finish at Le Castellet
AVF by Adrián Vallés maximized the team’s potential today in race 2 of the Formula V8 3.5 series at Circuit Paul Ricard with a double points finish at the end of a challenging weekend. Running on home soil, Tom Dillmann finished in sixth position after a good start. With this result, the Frenchman was able to hold onto his championship lead with 132 points in total. On the other hand, team mate Alfonso Celis Jr got a good reward for his efforts, posting a deserved top-10 result. The Mexican racer ended up in eight place despite an overheating engine due to the high temperatures on-track. The Spanish squad is still at the top of the standings with 164 points, and is eager to get back in contention for wins in the next round at Silverstone.
Alfonso Celis Jr (#15) Q2 P8 1:48.921 – Race 2 P8 +24.984
“We found some pace in qualifying this morning. I think if we could put the last lap together, a P3 would have even been possibile, or at least a top-5. Anyway we qualified in eight, not so bad considering where we were yesterday. During the race I still had some issues with the engine, it was in overheating and I lost massive speed on the straights. It was hard for me to defend in all the battles I had, but I pushed as hard as I could in every lap to keep P8, which I did also thanks to a great team strategy. It feels bad because we gave our best and the result was jeopardized by a technical problem, but we’re gonna to sort it out for Silverstone”.
Tom Dillmann (#16) Q2 P7 1:48.981 – Race 2 P6 +22.114
“It has not been a great day for us. We didn’t have the pace we hoped both in qualifying and in the race. I think we got the maximum result for the speed we had. For sure we can’t be happy, but we are already focusing to do better in the next round”.
