Mücke Motorsport three times with points at the FIA Formula 3 European Championship at the Norisring – Miserable collision at the end
Three point rankings and the fastest lap time were the outcome for the German team kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport from Berlin at the FIA Formula 3 European Championship with the races 13 to 15 at the Norisring in Nürnberg this weekend (25th/26th of June). The races were held in the main schedule of the DTM. The Dane Mikkel Jensen finished on position seven and eight at the two races on Saturday, his team colleague David Beckmann (both Dallara Mercedes-Benz) finished tenth and 13th at the 2.3 km long city course in Nürnberg. The rookie from Hagen scored the fastest lap time in the field of 20 drivers in this high class offspring series on Saturday afternoon.
At the race on Sunday that was characterised by several Safety car phases at the difficult city course, both pilots of the racing stable from the German capital city fought about the sixth position, collided and resigned about four laps before the end of the race. „That was a miserable collision that shouldn’t have happened. We already evaluated that with the whole team“, said team principal Peter Mücke. „Before the crash, Mikkel and Beckmann fought about this position quite well after the re-start of the race. At the races on Saturday, both drivers showed a great performance in the field.“
Winners of the races at the Norisring were the Canadian front-runner Lance Stroll, who won on Saturday and Sunday morning and the French rookie Anthoine Hubert (both Dallara Mercedes-Benz) on Saturday afternoon. After 15 out of 30 races altogether, the Mücke pilot Mikkel Jensen holds the ninth position of the overall standings. His team colleague David Beckmann, who missed out at the first six runs because he hasn’t reached the minimum age of 16 yet, is on overall position 16 at the moment. The second season half of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship European Championship will start in Zandvoort (Netherlands, 15th to17th of July) in about three weeks.
