Canamasas optimistic heading into Saturday´s race

After getting heavy traffic and it resulted in struggling to heat up the tires, Canamasas couldn´t put in a fast time in qualifying at Hungaroring. Anyway, his good race pace on hard tire compound gives Canamasas optimism for Saturday´s race.

Eight row start for Sergio Canamasas in race 1 at Hungaroring, which pay host to round six of the GP2 Series. Canamasas finished 10th in free practice session with a lap of 1:28.416 but later in qualifying, on soft tire, he couldn´t improve a time of 1:27.075.

Despite it was a not expected result, Canamasas is “confident ahead of race 1. I was pleased with my performance in free practice but then in qualifying, to be honest, I don´t really know what happened on soft tire compound. The car struggled while cornering. It is also true I hit traffic on my out lap and I couldn´t heat up my tires properly”. He also said that “we are competitive on hard tires and it should be something good for both races. Besides, I managed to make one of the best race starts in the GP2 Series at Hungaroring last year, when I moved up to 8th from last on the grid. I think there is reason therefore to be optimistic”.

Saturday´s feature race is scheduled at 15.40.
