Canamasas makes another good recovery drive on Sunday
Starting in last place on the grid on Sunday as a result of his accident in Saturday feature race when Pic pushed him out, Canamasas finished 14th at the wheel of his Carlin Dallara. The car wasn´t that easy to handle following its massive crash on the day before.
Sergio Canamasas´ roll caused by a mistake made by Arthur Pic in Saturday feature race at Monza prevented him from scoring points in the main Formula 1 feeder series. The Spaniard was running in fourth when he was hit by Pic – who received a penalty to start from the pit lane later after being judged to have caused collision- and as a result he started from the last on the grid. On lap one Carlin driver already moved up to 13th but his car was not quite good enough and in addition three other drivers almost pushed Canamasas into the gravel. Finally, he finished 14th.
“It wasn´t the performance we expected. I was suffering heavy understeer and three drivers almost pushed me out. Simply it is not fair. You are driving at 300km/h and another driver makes extremely aggressive maneuvers. That is not acceptable”, Canamasas said. He also added “it was a frustrating weekend for sure. My roll after Pic collided into me ruined our chances after moving up to fourth. After that, everything else was gone. It is frustrating but you have to accept it as such”.
