Audi Sport TT Cup – Van der Linde ready for Budapest

Audi Sport TT Cup star Sheldon van der Linde heads to Hungary this weekend hungry to bounce back following a disruptive weekend at the Nurburgring last time out.

Despite scoring double pole positions last time out, Sheldon led and gamefully fought off his rivals’ robust driving for most of the first race, before succumbing to their antics to drop to 8th by the flag. The South African then became victim to another accident that eliminated him the second race through no fault of his own.

That difficult weekend dented van der Linde’s championship hopes as he slipped to fourth in the charge, but the Dainfern, Johannesburg youngster is totally committed to bouncing back at Budapest’s sixth TT Cup round 24-25 September. “It’s been very frustrating to walk away from such a promising double pole weekend with these results,” Sheldon admitted.

“It’s clear that we’ve been very competitive all season, it’s just been a simple case of luck not being on our side, so my debut season in Europe has certainly been very character building. “At the moment, the most important thing is to put everything behind us and focus on one race at a time, so let’s see where it takes us, come the season finale in Hockenheim.

“The Hungaroring is new to the TT Cup calendar this season, so it will be a case of who adapts the quickest,” Sheldon concluded. “I’ve already been preparing and look forward to turning my luck around from now to the end of the season!”

Sheldon sits 34 points adrift of Finn Joonas Lappalainen in the 2016 Audi TT Cup title chase. Follow the action through the Hungoraring weekend vial live streaming and timing at http://www.audi-motorsport.com.
