Polo Cup Preview – La Réserveé chasing Polo Cup title

Engen Volkswagen Polo Cup team Pepper Racing heads to Kyalami with a spring in its step as team leader Shaun La Réserveé looks to continue his championship charge following a strong run over through the season with a win in almost every meeting so far this year, while his rookie teammates Brad Beningfield and Daniel Duminy cannot wait to race at the opening meeting of the legendary circuit in its brilliant latest incarnation.

“I am really looking forward to racing on Kyalami again,” Durban Alpine Motors Pepper Racing Polo driver La Réserveé admitted. “It’s a track with such heritage and history and this new version looks amazing – I can’t wait to lay some rubber down there! “It’s going to be a tough weekend as the championship battle is on fire – I’m hoping for two really good race results in order to take the battle for the overall championship to the wire. “Bring it on!”

La Réserveé leads the Polo Cup Masters Championship by 4 points and is tied in third in the overall championship chase with Chris Shorter; 22 points behind leader Bradley Liebenberg and just 3 points behind Keagan Masters in second.

Like most of the 400-plus entries for the historic Kyalami meeting, Brad Beningfield can’t wait to race in his Nashua Pepper Racing Polo there. “I am very excited to get to go around the new track in the Polo”, Johannesburg driver Brad, who studies at Rhodes University admitted. “I hope to keep the momentum flowing from the Cape Town round, keep the car clean and have a huge amount of fun!”

“I’m looking forward to learning another new track and new lessons,” SMD Racing Ballito lad Daniel Duminy promised. “Hopefully we have a good weekend – I am really looking forward to Kyalami!”

“Kyalami is probably our biggest race of the year,” team boss Iain Pepper concluded. “Not only is it crucial for Shaun from a championship point of view and a big day for Brad and Daniel, but this is also an historic weekend for South African motorsport in general – see you at Kyalami!”

Pepper Racing’s entries compete in Kyalami’s Engen Volkswagen Polo Cup races with qualifying Sunday morning before race 1 at 11h20 and race 2 at 13h50.
