Sébastien Carron (Ford Fiesta R5) won the final round of the 2016 Tour European Rally, the Rallye International du Valais, leading from start to finish and sealing the perfect season with his sixth victory out of six rounds in the swiss series. After a close fight during two days of competition between the two Skoda Fabia R5 cars of Jérémie Toedtli and Jan Cerny, the latter took second place in the penultimate stage and managed to hold it to the finish by only 1.2 seconds. Toedtli climbed on the last podium place, as well as receiving the trophy for victory in the TER Power Stage.
The best performer of the Rally was Fabio Andolfi (Hyundai New Generation i20 R5): He set five consecutive fastest stage times and was second overall, only a few seconds behind Carron when he was forced to retire after a technical problem to a minor component which stopped his car on Stage 11.
The two Ford Fiestas R5 of Pascal Perroud and Pieter Tsjoen finished respectively 4th and 5th after a puncture in the final stage cost Florian Gonon (Peugeot 207 S2000) over 4′, dropping him to 8th, behind the two Citroen DS3 R5 of Federico Della Casa and Mike Coppens.
Nine of the top ten crews at the finish were registered for the 2016 Tour European Rally
Marc Valliccioni (Porsche 997) won the TER 2WD Trophy and ended the event in ninth overall.
