South African ADAC German Formula 4 racer Jonathan Aberdein is on his way to the Emirates to compete in the first round of the Formula 4 UAE series in Abu Dhabi this weekend. Capetonian Aberdein, who finished the German series on a strong note three weeks back, is using the Middle Eastern series to hone his skills in preparation for a concerted European race effort in 2017.

“I’m looking forward to racing in the UAE,” Jonathan admitted. “The whole idea is to keep busy in the European off season as well as to race on some fantastic racetracks that I might see in the future. ” I think the experience will be valuable and help us get the edge over our competitors in 2017.”

The FIA ratified Formula 4 UAE Championship Powered by Abarth is open to drivers aged 15 and upward and will run through the end of 2016 season into 2017, alternating between Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Grand Prix Circuit and the Dubai Autodrome, with Aberdein racing for his ADAC German Formula 4 team alongside American youngster Logan Sargeant among a competitive international field.
