Cape Town driver Jonathan Aberdein is literally making the Formula 4 UAE series his own following another dominant weekend in Abu Dhabi, where he started from pole position and went on to win all four races to remain unbeaten in Formula 4 UAE’s ten races so far.

“I have to say that I am delighted with my Formula 4 UAE championship so far,” Jonathan admitted. “We have now won ten races between the Trophy meeting here at Yas Marina and all six championship rounds at Dubai and here so far – it’s been a memorable time for us.”

The South African started well, taking pole position for race 1 by 0.2 seconds over Motopark Racing teammate, US driver Logan Sargeant before romping off to win the opening race from Sargeant and another US driver, David Malukas. The second race was run off a reverse grid, which saw Aberdein starting from the fifth row, but he was quickly up into his customary lead as he beat Sargeant and British driver Sean Babington to the win.

“I started on the fifth row of the grid and took advantage of some of the guys’ reaction after one of the cars on the front row stalled and then I passed a bunch of cars on the outside – I was in the lead by turn 3!” Aberdein explained after going on to reel off two more wins with a fastest lap in races 3 and 4.

18-year-old Aberdein is racing Formula 4 UAE series in preparation for his second year in German ADAC Formula 4 series in 2017. “Racing Formula 4 in the united Arab Emirates is giving me valuable track time throughout the European winter,” Jonathan expiained. “I think it will give me a certain advantage in the German series at the beginning of next year.”

“I am absolutely delighted with this ten out of ten score,” Jonathan concluded. “I have to thank my team Motopark Racing for a fantastic car again this weekend – that makes all the difference – Logan and I were first and second in all four races this weekend – well done team!”
