LINDENBERGS’ RACING PASSION – Four drivers, 8 cars for Zwartkops Festival
Lindenberg Racing heads to the international Passion of Speed races at the Zwartkops Raceway 28 January with four drivers set to race eight cars and a spring in its step too.
The annual Passion for Speed races are a favourite among race fans and connoisseurs and this year is no different, with no fewer than 32 overseas competitors among a huge field of the most exciting cars in racing history and the Lindenberg four are ready to fight for their share of the spoils.
Spearheaded by team patron, multiple car, boat and waterski champion and a triple Springbok Lindenberg, the team is ready to fly the Shelby flag in style, with Pete doing double duty aboard a Shelby Mustang GT350 and behind the wheel of his Shelby Daytona Cobra, which he will share with daughter Paige in the Sports & GT TT endurance race.
“We cannot wait for the weekend,” SA Shelby distributor Peter admitted. “It is a unique pleasure not only to race two of Shelby’s finest, but also to do that with my daughter – hope you are ready, Paigey!”
Paige is set for an even busier weekend with triple duty on Saturday with outings in her monster Ford Fairlane in Class C saloons, a drive in an ancient 1962 Lotus 23 sports racer over and above her duties with dad. “This is going to be such a cool weekend,” MSA Motorsport Development Academy graduate Paige explained. “I’ll be hopping from the massive Fairlane in to the featherweight Lotus and then into the monster Shelby – I can’t wait!”
Auditor Djurk Venter will also be doing double duty for Lindenberg Racing at Zwartkops, racing his brand new ’65 Shelby Daytona Coupe in Class B of the Sports and GT races alongside a Historic Saloons Class D outings in his trusty V8 Ford ’72 Capri Perana. “It’s a big day for me – I’ve been waiting for a long time to race the Shelby – I’m like a kid before Christmas!”
Certainly not least; Kirsten Venter is the last piece of the Lindenberg Racing Passion for Speed puzzle racing her ’68 Ford Escort in Class F of the Historic Saloons race. Look out for the fleet of Windsor white and blue cars on track. Cape fans need only wait a week to experience the Passion at Killarney 4 February.
