South Africa’s Jonathan Aberdein heads to Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina grand prix circuit with one mission on his mind and that’s to take his Motopark Racing Taatus-Abarth to 2016-2017 Formula 4 UAE championship victory 10-11 February.

“I need to beat my teammate Logan Sargeant in all four races to wrap the championship up with a round left to run,” the Cape Town lad explained. Aberdein has dominated the Gulf series, winning 12 of the 13 races so far as he closes in on his first main circuit racing title to add to his existing South African and Western Province karting titles.

Jonathan heads to Abu Dhabi with an extra spring in his step too, having just re-signed with Motopark for the 2017 ADAC German Formula 4 championship commencing in April. “We’ve put in a lot of preparation over the winter and we are ready to give everything in ADAC Formula 4 this year,” Aberdein admitted. “My goal is to make a strong title challenge and I look forward to the exciting year ahead.”

First however, Jono has an appointment in Abu Dhabi – there’s a championship to be won, something he’d prefer done sooner, rather than later.
