Nurburgring 24 Hour Announcement – Endurance program for SA’s Bentley driver
South Africa’s Jordan Pepper has been confirmed for a factory-supported Bentley Continental GT3 race program culminating in the prestigious Nurburgring 24-hour race 27-28 May.
Pepper’s four-race Nurburgring program aboard a Bentley Continental GT3 includes two Nurburgring VLN Series races in March and April, followed by the Nurburgring 6-hour later in May and then the 24-hour. “I am super-excited to have been chosen to drive the Nurburgring 24-hour as part of the factory supported Bentley team ABT,” Jordan confirmed.
“To race for a manufacturer-backed team is a thrilling opportunity and a dream come true – I have worked hard toward this chance over the past few years since I went overseas to race the VW Scirocco Cup. “I am also delighted to be able to go into my third season as an Abt team driver – I’ve forged a strong relationship with the team and I now know them very well – Abt has been my second home since I moved over here.
“Most significantly, my Bentley Continental GT3 is very well suited to the Nurburgring – it loves medium to fast corners and that’s pretty much all that the track is made up of, so we should be really strong there. “We also have good power, excellent aerodynamics and fine balance in the car, so while we know the competition is tough, we should be on for a good result.
“I am in for a big learning curve though – the Nurburgring is the longest racetrack in the world and it is also a unique challenge to master. “That said, I have a brilliant team and some great teammates around me and we have heaps of video and data to work with. “I will also spend a considerable amount of time on simulator work in an effort to get onto the pace quite quickly.
“Now its up to me to put the work and effort in to learn the track, but I’m confident that by the time we get to the 24-hour race I will be ready to give it my best possible effort on track.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed so much to my career, to get me where I am now and I am most grateful for the opportunity I have now – I really could not have asked for a better break than this – I am super stoked, super-happy!”
Jordan will confirm the rest of his 2017 race plans in due course.
