WP Karting – Van der Watt relishing to race up front
Julian van der Watt is looking forward to getting his Western Cape DD2 karting title defence back into top gear at Killarney Saturday 11 March, following a challenging season opener in February.
“There was a strike at the couriers we were using so our race engine did not make it in time for the races. We then had to borrow an engine for the day and I was a little down on power,” Julian explained. “So I actually had quite a good weekend, all considered, but I’ll have my best engine back for race day and I don’t think Umpie Swart is going to have it all that easy this time.
So yes, I’m really looking forward to being back up to speed again,” Julian concluded. “It’s where I need to be to start what’s going to be a busy month of racing!”.
Van der Watt will race the Killarney kart regional 11 March, before heading to Vereeniging for the first karting National Monday 20 March and then its back to Killarney for the first round of the Investec SA Formula Ford Championship Saturday 25 March.
