Lindenberg Racing came away from Saturday’s Zwartkops opening round of Historic Tour races with a spring in its step following a solid day’s racing.

The highlight of the team’s weekend was petite Paige Lindenberg’s performance in the Historic Saloons A-E races aboard her monster V8 Ford Fairlane. “That was one of my most challenging race days yet,” Paige explained after throwing the giant car around with abandon to end up an impressive fourth in class D and 7th overall in both races in spite of the challenges of pedalling so immense a car so hard on a circuit as tight as Zwartkops.

“I struggled with the handling of my Lindenberg Racing Ford Fairlane, but what a great race day. “It was my first time racing a V8 in the Historic Tour and it was really exciting mixing it up there with the big guys.” Paige now gets to grips with a completely different challenge as she prepares for her Investchem Formula Ford debut at Killarney in Cape Town’s inaugural meeting for the all-new wings and slicks class 25 March.

It was a family affair for Lindenberg Racing’s husband and wife duo Djurk and Kirsten Venter in the smaller Classic Saloons F-H races, where the couple ended up dicing against each other over the two heats. “Driving the Escort for the first time in sprint races was a new challenge to me,” Djurk admitted. “But it was an even greater mission dicing with my wife, not just in the race, but in the same class, so it was an extremely exciting race day.”

Kirsten out-qualified her husband, but Djurk ended up third in class in the first race with Kirsten 5th in class in the first race , with the couple repeating those results in the second heat. “I struggled a little with the Escort, qualifying went great – especially to beat Djurk,” Kirsten smiled. “The races were a bit more challenging, but I’m happy with my result. “Watch out Djurk I’m coming for you in the next race!”

“Team boss Peter Lindenberg sat out the weekend’s action on medical advice following his recent health scare, he was a little frustrated, although satisfied to follow proceedings from the sidelines. “Saturday was a different race day for me,” Pete admitted. “But I’m extremely happy with the team’s performance and for that I also need to thank our technicians for the great prep of our cars for the weekend, as always.”
