Formula 2 Test – Bahrain Campos Formula 2 test for Raoul
Raoul Hyman’s impression on Campos Racing during his two-day test with the team’s GP3 car at Estoril in Portugal last week was enough to see the South African driver drafted into Campos’ line-up for this week’s Formula 2 (formerly known as GP2) test at Bahrain this week.
20-year old Hyman, who has in recent seasons raced European Formula 3 and British Formula 4, starred for Campos at Estoril. “South-African ace Raoul Hyman drove brilliantly to top the time sheets despite the fact that it was his first time at the Portuguese track,” a Campos statement confirmed Tuesday morning. “Hyman will now make his first appearance in Sakhir behind the wheel of a Formula 2 car.”
“I am absolutely delighted with my promotion to Campos’ Formula 2 team for the Sakhir test this week,” Hyman confirmed. “We had a good run with the team’s GP3 car last week, but to be able to test the Formula 2 car is not just a huge surprise, it is also a massive confidence booster for me.
“Formula 2 is the last step before F1 and it runs on grand prix weekends throughout the summer with major live TV across the globe – it would be a dream come true to drive in that prestigious series for Campos, so this is a vital test for me.”
