Kyalami’s first race meeting at the newly refurbished Kyalami Grand Prix circuit in October 2016 was a great success and the circuit is now preparing for its second race day at its first meeting of the 2017 season, in a spectacular showpiece featuring seven of South Africa’s premier race series Saturday 22 April.

The second round of the Sasol GTC championship will see the cream of South Africa’s race drivers fighting it out with SA champion Michael Stephen’s Audi, Gennaro Bonafede and Johan Fourie’s BMWs and the factory Volkswagens among the frontrunners and the best of Volkswagen, Mini and Honda’s hot hatches slugging it out in GTC 2.

Of particular interest, several new GT3 racing supercars are expected to make their Kyalami debut, including a newly imported Ferrari 458 racer; SA’s first racing Lamborghini Huracan and the latest Porsche 911 GT3 machines competing against a full field of existing GT3 machines that thoroughly entertained at the Midrand facility last time out.

With well over 30 entries already received, race fans can expect these races to live up to their Extreme billing. All of them will be out to beat Kyalami boss Toby Venter, who also happens to hold the current official Kyalami lap record and whose team is preparing his new Porsche for the big day.

Of course the V8s can be expected to stir up a storm and more than just a little late summer Highveld rolling thunder and the sports and historic racers will add a wonderful dash of style and history.
