AVF scores second place in Silverstone Race 2
The AVF team continued to score good results in their brand-new partnership with SMP Racing as the opening weekend of the World Series Formula V8 3.5 season was completed at Silverstone. At the British track, Egor Orudzhev scored second place in a Race 2 conditioned by a safety-car neutralization right after the pit-stops. Paying the price of the issue was the second car fielded by the Spanish squad for Matevos Isaakyan. While fighting for a podium finish, the Russian was touched by Nelson Mason at the entrance of Brooklands. At the re-start, Orudzhev retained the second place he had gained thanks to a great pit-stop by his mechanics. With 18 points, he is now fourth in the championship standings. Isaakyan stands with 15, all coming from yesterday’s third place.

“The start was good, I worked a lot with the team on this aspect during the winter. I moved up to third place at the start despite being a little bit behind on the grid. With a more consistent qualifying session I could have even fought for the lead. I battled with Roy for second place and the team also did a great job at the pit-stop so here we are to celebrate another podium”.

“The second race started well even if the finish was not good… I gained a couple of positions and I had to be careful to avoid the car of Binder who started slowly. I was leading when we did the pit-stop as we had a late call. Guys made a great job and I went out fighting for fourth place and good points. On cold tyres I had Mason on my tail. In turn 6 he tried on the outside but closed the door on me really hard without leaving me any space so we touched and I went out of the race. I’m sorry for the team but season is still long”.
