Sergio Canamasas ahead of the most special weekend of the season
Spaniard Canamasas is entering Round 2 of the FIA Formula Two at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Canamasas, at the wheel of his Trident-entered Dallara, is excited to race at home and shine in front of his fans.
Sergio Canamasas is ready to take on the challenge of the second round of the FIA Formula 2 championship, the main Formula 1-feeder series, to be held at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Under the banner of Trident, Canamasas kicked off his 2017 season at Bahrain International Circuit last month and the racing driver from Barcelona will now contest his home round seeking a strong result in his home FIA Formula 2 meeting.
“I’m looking forward to hitting the track because your home round is always something special. It’s a nice chance to race in front of your family, friends and home crowd. In my case, it gives you extra motivation, so it’s exactly I need to take that extra step forward”, Canamasas stresses. He adds: “our hard work over the last month was quite impressive, testing on our simulator as well because our goal is to demonstrate our potential in Friday’s practice session. Last year, I joined Carlin at the last moment and after taking 15th spot on the grid I moved up to fifth in race one. It was an exciting result but my goal is to improve that performance in 2017. I know that isn’t an easy task to achieve but I am hoping my experience and home crowd will help me out in order to accomplish our goals.”
Friday’s free practice session will take place at 12.00, meanwhile the qualifying session will start at 15.55. Saturday’s feature race is due to start at 15.40 and Sunday’s sprint race at 10.35.
