South Africa’s Stephen Simpson, regular co-driver Misha Goikhberg and third driver Chris Miller head to the classic Watkins Glen Sunday 2 July looking to break well into the top three with their privateer JDC-Miller Motorsport Oreca-Gibson at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen.
Simpson and Russo-Canadian Goikhberg have consistently headed the non-Corvette standings to lie a close fourth in the championship chase this year following a series of fourth and fifth place finishes so far this season. The team is now intent to turn the tables on its works rivals in the US IMSA WeatherTech sportscar championship.
“It’s a busy time for me as I have six weekends of racing and coaching in a row, including two trips to Canada, but I’m really looking forward to getting back in the car at Watkins Glen next week,” Stephen admitted. “The Glen is a great place and it was re-surfaced early last year, which has really gripped up the track and that has now made it even faster and even more of a challenge than before.
“I am also really looking forward to this weekend because it is a six-hour race and we will have Chris back in the car with Misha and me as virtually all teams add an additional driver for this longer race. “JDC Miller Motorsports has been working hard and we have been making good improvements as a team. “Now I aim to make  sure that all their hard is turned into a good result.”
