The fifth round of the 2017 World Series Formula V8 3.5 ended up with another podium finish for SMP Racing by AVF. The squad led by Adrián Vallés brought home the third place trophy thanks to Russian racer Egor Orudzhev who, after yesterday’s win, is fully back in the hunt for the title with 125 points, leading his team-mate Matevos Isaakyan who jumped up to 120 with a fifth place today. It’s a great overall balance for SMP Racing by AVF as the team trimmed their gap from second to first place in the team standings too with 245 points in total. In the last lap, Orudzhev also set the fastest lap, showcasing the great potential of his car.

Egor Orudzhev (SMP Racing by AVF)

“The race was ok, but we were not able to fight with Pietro for the success as we did yesterday. At least I’ve been able to set the fastest lap using some DRS in the end”.

Matevos Isaakan (SMP Racing by AVF)

“The start was really good and the first corner went well but somebody in front made a mistake. I tried to pass on the inside and my front wing was already inside when the other car cut straight into me damaging the wing and the tire. The race was then very difficult but I took home a lot of points so in the end not a bad day for us”.
