Sergio Canamasas feels optimistic with Rapax for Silverstone

The Spaniard will defend the Rapax banner for the second consecutive weekend. Silverstone is the favorite United Kingdom circuit for Canamasas and he expects to be competitive and remain close enough to the front runners

Sergio Canamasas will be racing at Silverstone next weekend, as the Round six of the FIA Formula 2 Championship takes place at the famous British track. Just like at the Red Bull Ring last week, the only Spanish driver in the series will be joining Rapax team to continue pushing forward his positive momentum. Despite he couldn’t score new points in Spielberg, unlike Monte Carlo and Baku rounds, Canamasas made some good progress.

“Our first outing with Rapax in Austria was quite positive in spite of we couldn’t make into the points. I think it’s the right choice to drive for them again at Silverstone, which is a fertile ground for me and also one of my favourite circuits. In fact, we posted the 5th-fastest lap time on our first set of tires in qualifying two years ago, although we couldn’t improve on our second set”, Canamasas explains. Besides, the driver of Rapax adds: “weather is always changeable at Silverstone. So, I feel confident to exploit every opportunity that comes our way.”

The free practice session will take place on Thursday this time and traditional qualifying session is scheduled at 16.15 on Friday. Weekend’s feature race will get underway on Saturday at 16.00 and the sprint race will take place on Sunday at 10.20. All times local.
