The Spaniard sets sights high entering Hungaroring after his remarkable performance with Rapax at Silverstone finishing fourth and fifth. The twisty circuit is a favourite with Canamasas due to its similarity to Monte Carlo

Sergio Canamasas will be concluding the first half of the 2017 FIA Formula 2 season next weekend at the Hungaroring. Canamasas will be back in a Rapax-entered Dallara GP2/11 just like at the Red Bull Ring and Silverstone. Canamasas celebrated his strongest weekend so far at Silverstone finishing 5th on Saturday and then moving up to fourth when the chequered flag dropped on Sunday. There results were a valuable moral boost ahead of Hungary, where the Spaniard arrives full of optimism.

“Our results at Silverstone two weeks ago were extremely encouraging. At least, I hope to continue the streak of being in the points at the Hungaroring. I have settled into the team quite well”, Canamasas explains. The driver of Rapax continues saying: “I really like Hungaroring because it’s a circuit which suits my driving style. Just like Monaco, Hungaroring is a track where a good driver makes a difference. So, I’m really looking forward to racing next weekend!”

The FIA Formula 2 Championship returns to normal schedule with both free practice and qualifying sessions taking place on Friday. Saturday’s sprint race is scheduled at 15.40 (CET) and Sunday’s race at 10.35 (CET).
