Were you to bump into Paige Lindenberg at the shopping mall or in the gym, there is probably no chance at all that you’d ever imagine the petite lass hustling a 500 horsepower three-ton monster Ford Fairlane through Dezzi Raceway’s seemingly impossibly tight confines.

But that’s precisely what the Cape Town lass was up to on Saturday as the Historic Tour visited the picturesque KZN South Coast when Paige was one of two Lindenberg Racing cars to race alongside Djurk Venter, who also had a positive weekend in the team’s Ford Escort.

“Dezzi Raceway is one of my favourite racetracks,” Paige admitted. “They simply go out of their way to make it a faultless and enjoyable time for everyone, so even if my monster Fairlane and the tricky Dezzi circuit are not exactly a fantastic match, it was a super challenging weekend, and was a privilege to race there.

“I started losing brakes and power steering from race one so by the time we got to race two you can only imagine the struggle in that beast, but we still ended up third in class for the weekend and managed to bag some good points in the championship. “Despite the challenges, I loved every second and continue to grow and learn with this amazing car — thank you to my incredible team, family and sponsors, can’t wait for the next challenge at Zwartkops Raceway.

Djurk Venter was forced to pulled out all the moves in the Escort. “I was too quick and they bumped me up from class G to to the quicker class F,” Djurk explained. “So I was pretty chuffed to end up fourth in my new in class for the day. “We also had a good run in the endurance race, but my car’s left rear wheel broke off unfortunately just four minutes from the finish so I was forced to retire.”

Lindenberg Racing’s next stop is at Zwartkops when the Historic Tour travels to the Pretoria racetrack Saturday 16 September.
