Pepper Racing heads to the Killarney International Raceway with a spring in its step for the seventh round of the Engen Volkswagen Cup, which visits the Cape Town Race Track as part of the circuit’s Extreme Festival races Saturday 9 September. The racetrack at the foot of Table Mountain has proven a happy hunting ground for the team over the years and team boss Iain Pepper is hoping for a lot more success there next weekend.

“Killarney has mostly been good to us so we are hoping that’s the muti we need to turn the corner following a few races without a win this year. “Shaun and Tasmin have the place taped, while Daniel likes it there too and Giordano is racing at home, so here’s to a Pepper Racing bumper weekend.”

Tasmin Pepper has been a regular winner at Killarney over the years and the Campos Transport/Alpine Motors Pepper Racing Polo lass is keen to return to her winning ways there come next Saturday: “We’re heading to my favourite circuit on the calendar!” Tasmin warned. “Cape Town has always been good to me and I’m looking forward to some close racing — it’s time to bring some wins home — the boys have had enough chances!”

Pepper’s Masters class teammate Shaun La Réservée is likely to be the biggest thorn in her side though — the Durban Alpine Motors Pepper Racing Polo pilot being another regular Polo winner in the Cape. “I’m Really looking forward to getting back into the car at the Mother City!” Shaun admitted. “Cape Town has always been good to us as a team and I can’t wait to get back to winning ways under that mountain.”

Pepper Racing’s Junior Team sixteen-year olds are also keen on some top results in the Cape. Ballito youngster Daniel Duminy has had a tough year in the SMD Pepper Racing Polo and he’s keen to harness more of the excellent pace he has shown when all went well. “I’m looking forward to a good race week,” Daniel confirmed. “Thanks to the team for the hard work — let’s go get a good result!”

Killarney is Giordano Lupini’s home track — the Franschhoek youngster cut his teeth there in the local GTi Challenge and he’s champing at the bit to get to grips with his black La Vie de Luc/CIR Construction Pepper Racing Polo in his own back yard. “I’m really excited for round 7 at my home track,” Giordano explained. “I feel I can really do well this round and I’ll be pushing as hard as I can for the best possible result — my car has held up nicely the past few rounds so I’m holding thumbs that we can have another clean weekend…”
