Orudzhev fastest in Mexico’s Collective Test
AVF by Adrián Vallés, managing the SMP Racing cars in the World Series Formula V8 3.5, ended up with the fastest laptime of the day in the championship’s debut at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. The historical Mexican venue, home of the seventh round of the series, saw teams and drivers go on-track for the first testing activities. On a dry racetrack, Egor Orudzhev set the fastest lap of the morning session which turned out impossible to beat when heavy rain hit the circuit later and even forced to a lengthy interruption. The rain propelled the championship leader Matevos Isaakyan, who drove AVF’s other car to second place in the afternoon.

“The track is nice, it’s interesting to go somewhere new and the feeling is great too. We just went out and we ended up the being the fastest and in front of everybody, so on dry we have good marks. In the evening it was almost difficult to run, as we spent most of the session in the pit-lane due to a red flag. Unfortunately then I spun on some standing water. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow”.

“We had old tyres in the morning and with the track almost green, we were going pretty well staying at the top of the charts. Then with the new tyres we had a brake failure so we couldn’t improve. Most of the time in the session we were red flagged but we set a strong P2 even if somebody was improving in T2 with the double yellow while I was lifting”.
