Cape Town race driver Jonathan Aberdein heads to Hockenheim in sentimental mood 23-24 September as he prepares to race his last weekend in the ADAC German Formula 4 championship as the 2017 title winds down on the classic grand prix track this weekend. The series has played as 2017 Formula 4 UAE champion Aberdein’s home over the past two seasons.

“It’s been a most interesting ride,” Jonathan admitted. “I have learned so much through the ADAC German Formula 4 series – it’s without doubt the proving ground of future champions, but time is coming to move on up and it will be sad in a way to say goodbye to many of the friends I have made in our team and in the series, but there are bigger things on the horizon.”

Quizzed on his future plans, Aberdein simply smiled, “Watch this space! “We still have this weekend to get through and there are one or two things I’d love to achieve before I go. “Last week was tough at Sachsenring — I was twice caught out by red flags in qualifying and ended up well down – we fought back well, but it wasn’t the best weekend. “Now we just want a clean end to our time here, so bring it on — I’m ready!”
