FRENCH F4 CHAMPIONSHIP 2017 Milesi, Martins and Venturi: one, two, three!
LOTUS CUP ITALIA A IMOLA: A STEFANO PASOTTI NON BASTANO LE DUE VITTORIE, FRANCO NESPOLI È IL CAMPIONE 2017
The final race of the weekend rang down the curtain on the second-last meeting of the 2017 French F4 season. The first three places reflected the grid line-up as Charles Milesi scored his fourth victory of the season from Victor Martins and Florian Venturi.
This Sunday morning the weekend finished for the drivers in the 2017 French F4 Championship on the Barcelona-Catalonia circuit. The cars shod Kumho tyres once again despite threatening skies for the third race. Milesi, among the front-runners since the start of the weekend, was in the winner’s circle for the fourth time this season. He made a good start, opened up a gap and was never under threat from his rivals.
Martins recaptured second place with an intelligent move after losing it to Venturi when the lights went out. He was under heavy pressure from Hugo Chevalier who was stuck to his gearbox for a long time in a ding-dong battle for third. But he didn’t wilt under pressure and fought off the latter’s attacks to clinch another top-3 finish this weekend. Chevalier drove a very good race and has every reason to be satisfied with his performance. Just behind these four, Ugo de Wilde has made a big step forward in Barcelona and seems to have developed a taste for the top 10!
Javier Gonzalez was seventh on the grid and after a fighting performance on the track passing one driver he finished sixth. Christian Muñoz lost a few places and saw the flag in seventh spot after an intense battle to try and score a place on podium. Arthur Rougier made a good comeback so he is leaving the circuit this evening having scored big points before the final round at Le Castellet in two weeks. Pierre-Louis Chovet is making steady improvement and was rewarded with ninth place.
Stuart White (14th on the grid) managed to break into the top 10. Adam Eteki and Noah Watt both made an impact today Sunday coming home 11th and 12th. Despite his best efforts to fight his way up the time sheets Pierre-Alexandre Jean could do no better than 13th at the chequered flag. Although he made a good start Amaury Cordeel was unable to stay with the front-runners and finished 14th followed by Marvin Klein. Thomas Drouet was unlucky as he had to stop due to a technical issue. Jean-Baptiste Mela who won yesterday also had to retire.
The gaps between the drivers are still very small and the final event on the Paul Ricard circuit between 13 – 15 October 2017 will decide the outcome.
