Ocean Racing Technology tackles the 2nd GP2 Series meeting with confidence
Bahrain’s Sakhir circuit will be hosting the second GP2 Series meeting of the 2012 season. Ocean Racing Technology is confident it will put on a good showing and has the potential to bring home its first points. After the hard work of the inaugural races a month ago in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Portuguese team hopes that the efforts of its engineers and drivers Nigel Melker et Jon Lancaster will now bear fruit.
The Dutch driver proved in Malaysia that he had the qualities to finish the race at the front of the pack. “In Malaysia, our lap times were consistent and competitive, and that’s a very good sign. I also had the second best lap of the race and so I think we have the potential to be at the front. The other positive aspect is that we will spend the next two race weekends on the same circuit, which will help us to adapt as much as possible and make progress. My objective is to secure a few points,” declared Nigel Melker.
Jon Lancaster arrives in Bahrain after a good preparation and in an enthusiastic mood. “We did some good tests in the simulator and I am sure that they will be essential going into the race weekend. I had a chance to learn the circuit, which will help me save time having to adapt to the track. The objective will be to fight for a place at the front of the pack in qualifying and in the race as well. During my first race weekend I learned a lot of things, particularly regarding the specific tyre strategy. I think that we will be more competitive here than in Malaysia,” declared the British driver.
