DTM Young Driver Test – Dream opportunity for Jonathan
South Africa’s Formula 4 UAE champion and ADAC German Formula 4 frontrunner Jonathan Aberdein has been selected as one of six international drivers to test an Audi RS 5 DTM at the annual DTM Young Driver Test at the Lausitzring 24-26 October. Aberdein, whose father Chris will be remembered as an Audi driver in the SA Touring and Modified Saloon car series, was recognised for his efforts on international racetracks over the past two seasons.
“This is a dream come true,” an elated Jonathan explained. “Not only is it a huge honour to be selected as one of six drivers around the world for this unique and prestigious opportunity, but it represents a step in my dad’s footsteps into a racing Audi. “I’m pretty blown away by this great chance and need to thank everyone who has made it possible for this dream to come true, not least of all my dad Chris and my Motopark team.”
19-year old Jonathan will join Austrian Formula 3 racer Ferdinand Habsburg, Formula 2 drivers, Dutch lad Nyck de Vries and Spainard Alex Palou, Dutch driver Dries Vanthoor and French WTCC race winner Yann Ehrlacher at the Lausitzring test, where Audi DTM star Nico Müller will be the reference driver.
