Sweat and sour Friday for AVF in Bahrain
A mixed feeling for AVF in Bahrain, at the end of the first day of operations in the ninth and last event of 2017 World Series Formula V8 3.5, the last season for the glorious series promoted by RPM-MKTG. The team managed by Adrian Valles conquered race-1 pole position with Matevos Isaakyan, the very first night race in the series history. A transmission problem during formation lap prevented the Russian to start. He had to go back to the pits, where technicians solved the problem in just five lap. Meanwhile Henrique Chaves put together an amazing performance: the Portoguese rookie, upgraded by the team from Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, qualified second in both races, and scored his maiden win today. Good news also for Konstantin Tereschenko, who replaced Egor Orudzhev: he keeps improving and took the seventh place in all three daily sessions.
Henrique Chaves
«It’s amazing to be here, writing a piece of history. The feeling with the car and the team was great, I found myself in the front of the grid for both races, which means we have a great car, as my teammates results can confirms. The night drive was amazing, something I can’t describe, but I’ll try to do it again tomorrow».
Matevos Isaakyan
«For sure I’m disappointed. We had the worst season problem in the bad moment. It’s a shame as the team set a great car, as shown by Henrique’s pace during the race. Once I got out from the pit I’ve been able to close few gaps with the cars ahead of me, but I was five laps down, so I’m not classified. Thanks anyway to the guys for the massive job done».
Konstantin Tereschenko
«A fine day. In qualifying I made few mistakes in the second run, but the set-up was okay. Unfortunately I’ve been blocked during the race by another car while I was pushing to recover, so I got stuck and I had to close 7th. Let’s see what we can do tomorrow».
