Pepper Racing is all set for the first race of the new generation Engen Volkswagen Polo Cup at the Kyalami Motorsport Festival Saturday 24 March with a leading four-car line up of highly experienced drivers. The Edenvale race team retains its two lead drivers in Shaun La Reservee and Tasmin Pepper, with Polo Cup rookies, Campos brothers Jason and Keegan bringing a unique depth of talent to the team this year.

“We are ready for the new season,” team boss Iain Pepper confirmed. “Pepper Racing has a highly experienced line-up this year in Polo Cup experts Tasmin and Shaun, while our team rookies only lack Polo Cup experience — Keegan and Jason Campos bring a wealth of experience to the team ranging from Formula 1600 through to Extreme Supercars and endurance racing. “Our three Masters racers and Keegan, who is also an experienced driver are ready to show the way this year.”

“I’m looking forward to a great season ahead,” Electric Life/Alpine Motors Pepper Racing Polo driver Tasmin Pepper admitted. “We have done quite a bit of testing and the cars are amazing to drive, so it’s a huge thank you Volkswagen Motorsport for the massive effort they put into building these race cars. “We have an awesome team this year, I have a new sponsor and a new race number and hopefully a change in luck, so I’m so excited to get things started — bring on 2018! “See you all at Kyalami.”

“I’m really excited for the new season,” Alpine Volkswagen/Oakley/Compendium Pepper Racing with OMP pilot Shaun La Reservee warned. “The new car is incredible — I tested a few weeks ago and it feels great on track. “It’s going to be really close as always this season, but the Masters class is really strong and the new cars, new tyres and push-to pass will make it even more interesting. “The aim is obviously to win the overall championship and the Masters title again and even though I know its going to be a really tough nut to crack, it’s onward and upward and game on at Kyalami!”

Pepper Racing’s Campos Transport /Turn 1 Insurance Brokers-backed Campos brothers are both most excited about their prospects in Polo Cup. “We have raced all forms of cars over the years, but the Engen Volkswagen Cup will be new territory and I think we will be ready come Kyalami,” Jason pointed out. “Polo Cup is all new,” Keegan added.” So it’s a good time to start because everyone is on an equal footing and we start on a level playing field, racing with the oldest and most experienced team on the grid — I can’t wait!”

The Engen Volkswagen Polo Cup shares the full 24 March Motorsport Festival program with the cream of South Africa’s racing categories to offer a great day of racing at the home of South African motorsport — See you at Kyalami!
