#FIAWEC – TWO R-13 CARS AT SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS FOR REBELLION RACING

REBELLION Racing is going to start the first race of the Super Super at Spa-Francorchamps circuit with two R-13 cars entered in LMP1 category.
After a first public outing for the REBELLION R-13 car at the FIA WEC Prologue on the 6th and 7th of April at the Paul Ricard circuit, the team performed private tests a few days ago at the Magny-Cours circuit to perfect the final adjustments of both cars. For this exceptional double season, number #3 car will join the number #1 at Spa for this first meeting of the Super Season. See you on Saturday, May 5 at 1:30 pm, for the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.

Bart Hayden, Team Manager: “Four years ago, REBELLION Racing made the race debut of their R-One LMP1 cars at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit and here we are at the same circuit about to make the race debut of the R13 LMP1 cars. After winning the LMP2 World Championship last year, we are very excited to be back in LMP1 and are looking forward to racing the new cars.”

Fabrice Roussel, Lead Race Engineer: “The first round of the Super Season is coming soon with strength, determination and envy. We recognize the potential of our direct competitors and look forward to using our experience in the class and our trios of drivers to make a difference. More than the Prologue last April, Spa should allow us to see more clearly the strengths and weaknesses of each.”

Mathias Beche, driver #3: “The 6H of Spa will be for us a great rehearsal and the opportunity to gain experience for the drivers before the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car has great potential and we have to use every lap to get the most information back to the team. The Belgians are great motorsport fans and this R-13 is beautiful, I’m sure fans will love it! Personally, I have not had the opportunity to race since Bahrain and I can not wait to be back to the wheel.

Thomas Laurent, driver #3: “I’m excited to drive at Spa! I hope everything will be fine on our car but I do not doubt for a moment. Look forward to a great battle at the top of the LMP1 category!”

Neel Jani, driver #1: “We had another very important and productive test at Magny-Cours, where the aim was to further develop this still very new car. Spa will be a learning curve for us but we are confident that we can have a good first race.”

André Lotterer, driver #1: “I look forward to being at Spa with my new team. We did a great job of development after the Prologue and the car is fun to drive. It’s my home race because I grew up in Belgium and I can not wait to get a good result.”

The two cars entered in the LMP1 category will have the technical support of ORECA teams. Closer to the team, the two brands made a unique partnership.

Alexandre Pesci, President of REBELLION: “This upcoming Super Season is going to be exciting! I am very pleased to see the excellent work ORECA has done to make this brand new R-13 prototype in record time! The team has also worked very hard and is ready to support our drivers! I can only be happy with this dream line-up full of talent! I do not know how this season is going to go and I don’t want to make early predictions but we will give all we have, with passion and pleasure!”

Calim Bouhadra, Vice President of REBELLION: “REBELLION Racing finally arrives with the full panel of our ambitions. Our two robust and reliable REBELLION R-13 cars, have been carefully thought and created by one of the best prototype manufacturers in the world, ORECA. An atmospheric Gibson engine developed specifically for our future endurance races as well as talented, very talented and motivated pilots! It was all coordinated with a master hand by Hugues de Chaunac and his team of engineers, and it makes this perfect, explosive cocktail!
We are all very motivated to take the lead in this great category of LMP1! The REBELLION is on…”

Hugues de Chaunac, President of the ORECA Group: “As a manufacturer, we have set up a new partnership with Team REBELLION Racing. My mission within the Team is to bring my experience to accompany them to be as competitive as possible. Like the members of ORECA Technology I am excited to be present in LMP1 category and bring all our technical support to this team. The team has shown all its qualities in recent years and its rise has been constant. The mission is to climb one more step: the highest one. We share a lot with Alexandre Pesci and Calim Bouhadra, we have the same determination and ambition. The goals are clear: to progress throughout the Super Season, to be the best Non Hybrid team and to be ready to seize any opportunity that might be offered to REBELLION Racing.”
