Julian van der Watt heads to the sweeping, undulating and twisty Road America road course in Wisconsin, keen to make a mark on the fourth round of the 2018 United States Formula 2000 series June 22-24. Van der Watt was the victim of an accident at the previous round at the Indianapolis Lucas Oval following positive performances and if his pre-race testing pace was anything to go by last week, the Cape Town driver is bound to be a factor once the start lights go out this weekend

“I had a really good test session at Road America last week in preparation for the race there this weekend,” Julian explained. “It was my first time out on that track and I quickly found good, strong pace — I was consistently in the top six and we ended off third fastest. “Team Pelfrey made a huge effort at the test day — the car was amazing and now we are really looking forward to going back to race at Road America. “Thanks so much to Team Pelfrey and my sponsors — Race Driver South Africa, Crossley & Webb, OMP racewear and Arai helmets.

The Road America USF2000 action starts with practice on Friday 22 June before a qualifying session for each race that afternoon. Race 1 happens at 20h10 SA time Saturday 23 June, while Race 2 goes down 13h00 SA time Sunday 24 June – follow the action at www.usf2000.com.
