FIA European Formula 3 Championship – Aberdein plans to star in Belgium
Cape Town racer Jonathan Aberdein cannot wait for the fifth round of the FIA European Formula 3 championship, which visits Belgium’s classic Spa Francorchamps circuit 27-28 July. It’s a double positive for Formula 3 rookie Aberdein, who cannot wait to get out on the classic Ardennes racetrack following a double-maiden podium at the Dutch Zandvoort circuit last time out.
“Spa Francorchamps is one of the most spectacular and fastest racetracks in the world — it is one of those that every race driver wants to tick off his bucket list, so this is a special one for me,” Jonathan explained. “This is a very big weekend with corners like the legendary Eau Rouge and Blanchimont; changeable weather conditions and a huge crowd too.
“We also come off my best Formula 3 results with a double-rookie podium at Zandvoort, so the plan is to keep the ball rolling and to keep on improving as we chase the top of the rookie podium and a first overall podium too. “It’s a bit of a different race weekend at Spa — we’re among the 24-hour support races and we race on Friday and Saturday instead of Saturday and Sunday, so it certainly is a weekend to look forward to!” Follow Jonathan’s Spa weekend at https://fiaf3europe.com.
