Expectations were high for FFF Racing Team by ACM ahead of the penultimate round of Blancpain GT Series Asia at Shanghai International Circuit this weekend (22-23 September) but those expectations were more than met as the Chinese-based team secured a fantastic one-two result on home soil.

While the result of the first race was positive, it was Sunday’s event that saw Martin Kodric and Dennis Lind secure the win in the #19 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 ahead of teammates Hiroshi Hamaguchi and Marco Mapelli.

Kodric lined up on the pole position with Mapelli in fifth, the latter making a great start to move second at the first turn while Kodric found himself shuffled down to sixth place. The race quickly settled in with both drivers maintaining position ahead of the pit stop window opening.

Kodric pitted early and handed over to Lind while Mapelli, who had been shadowing the leading #888 entry, opted to make a later stop. Lind was soon on the march, quickly disposing of the #3 car and moving up to third position behind teammate Hamaguchi with 20 minutes remaining.

Ten second separated Lind from the leader and the Dane was keen to close the gap. With less than ten minutes remaining, Lind had closed down the deficit to his teammate, making the pass shortly afterwards before applying maximum pressure on the race leader.

The pressure paid dividends with the leader spinning off the track with two minutes of racing remaining allowing FFF Racing Team by ACM to record an impressive one-two result. This backed up sixth position secured on the Saturday for Lind and Kodric, while Hamaguchi and Mapelli finished in fourth.

“Everyone is ecstatic with this result,” declared Team Principal Andrea Caldarelli. “It was a fantastic effort again from everyone in the team and it was another flawless performance. We’re leading both championships again and Lind was impressive to close 10 second gap to the race leader and pressure him into the mistake. Now we look forward to the final round with the aim of clinching the two championships.”
