The penultimate round of the 2018 European Le Mans Series has been a difficult race for AVF. The bad weather that was expected at Spa-Francorchamps promptly arrived and completing the race became impossible for everybody. The Ardennes venue was flooded and the event was suspended for good after just two hours as it was too dangerous to continue. Despite all the weather variables, the team impressed. After a good qualifying session that saw the duo of Konstantin Tereschenko and Henrique Chaves gain a fourth-row start, the two drivers sharing the AVF-prepared Dallara P217-Gibson had climbed back to the fifth position. But there was no shortage of bad luck as often happens for the Spanish team this season. Shortly after entering the pits for a scheduled stop, the safety car was called on the track and the AVF’s car dropped back to ninth with no chance of going back to the where it was before the race was stopped. However, the good performance by Tereschenko and Chaves remains impressive and they are maturing more and more. The next series meeting will be on the October 28th weekend in Portimao, Portugal.
