Two Spaniard will contest the classic Middle East endurance race, which brings the curtain down on the 2018 season, with a new Car Collection Motorsport-entered Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo. Tutumlu will share the driving duties with Schmidt and Parhoffer, as Çapan will be absent as a result of physical problems.

Isaac Tutumlu will compete in the Gulf 12 hours, the traditional season-closing event, with an all-new Audi R8 LMS Evo next Saturday. Therefore, the Spaniard will be at the wheel of the new GT3 racer developed by Audi Sport with German drivers Peter Schmidt and Dirk Parhoffer, who are two regulars in endurance racing, as teammates. Tutumlu, Schmidt and Parhoffer will be fighting for honors in the Pro-Am class. With more than thirty cars on the entry list including GT3, GT4, LMP3 and GT Cup, another closely-fought battle is expected at the Yas Marina Circuit.

“It’s such a pity my friend and teammate Ali Çapan won’t be able to attend the Gulf 12 hours due to physical issues. Despite it isn’t a big deal, he must absolutely rest. On the other hand, I’m really looking forward to driving the new Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo, which is making its debut in the Gulf 12 hours” said Tutumlu. The Spaniard underlines: “I’m sure that Audi Sport has built an extremely competitive GT3 racer, as always. It looks like the new car delivers more downforce than its predecessor. It will be more challenging to drive but, at the same time, we will have a more competitive car to fight for Pro-Am honors against our Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Aston Martin rivals. It will be my fourth participation in the Gulf 12 hours and I have tons of experience at the Yas Marina Circuit. I’m hoping to repeat last year’s podium!”.

The Gulf 12 hours features two 6-hour races that are separated by a three-hour break on Saturday.
