Tom Onslow-Cole is a particular rookie to the SUPERSTARS competition. The British racer enjoyed his first session aboard one of the championship’s V8 saloon racecars, lined-up aboard a Ferlito Motors-prepared Jaguar XF-R. What has been your first impression so far? “I guess… wow. It’s been incredible. Despite bad track conditions, humid and we were on slicks, I don’t think that any driver would not enjoy driving SUPERSTARS car. There’s a lot more power to play with and my focus is on maximizing the strength of the engine”.

How does a SUPERSTARS car compare to what you have driven so far?

“We raced here not too long ago in a slightly different configuration. The car is not too dissimilar, there’s just a lot more power. It’s bigger and heavier so there is more weight to slow down as well”.

Did you have a chance to take a look at your fellow competitors?

“The quickest car I got near was Thomas Biagi in the BMW and he was really really fast. I learned very quickly from him, trying to hang on. It really brought me up to speed…”

How did it go in Practice 1 and what do you expect for the races?

“From what we saw in the first session we got a very good run but it was a drying circuit. We’re improving lap on lap: it’s too early to set firm goals. If I can get into the top-5 and stay there comfortably it would be a fantastic weekend. I think that the knowledge of the track can be an advantage too, I know the 90% of it really well. The section with the hairpin and things is not a part of the circuit I’m used to, but in the end it’s only three corners and I hope I can get an advantage especially in these tricky conditions”.
