Australian outfit AMAC Motorsport will switch to Lamborghini’s new-for-2019 Huracan GT3 Evo when the team competes in Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia next season.

This year’s Am Cup runners-up Andrew Macpherson and William Porter are both also returning for their second seasons after spending 2018 aboard the first-generation Huracan.

“We had a great year in 2018 learning all these world-class circuits in Asia,” said team owner/driver Macpherson. “As a team we thoroughly enjoyed the season and cannot wait to be back on the grid at Sepang mixing it with the best teams and drivers that Asia has to offer.”

A new rule stipulates that each GT3 Pro/Am and Silver Cup crew must feature at least one Asian driver. However, this isn’t the case in the Am Cup and GT4 Asia where two Australians and/or New Zealanders are permitted to compete together.

AMAC’s GT3 announcement follows those from Craft-Bamboo and ARN Racing, who both confirmed their 2019 Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia programmes this past week.

Further team announcements are expected before Christmas.

2019’s six-round championship, which has been rebranded in line with SRO’s European and US sprint racing platforms, begins at Sepang in Malaysia on April 6/7.
