#GTCupOpen – Guillem Pujeu makes solid progress with McLaren 570S GT4 car
Spaniard Pujeu completed the GT Open Open’s Winter Series at the Circuit Paul Ricard driving the brand-new Teo Martín Motorsport-run McLaren 570S GT4. Pujeu clocked extremely competitive lap times on day two.
Guillem Pujeu made an excellent impression from the very beginning at the wheel of the Teo Martín Motorsport-entered McLaren 570S GT4 during the GT Cup Open’s Winter Series, which took place in Le Castellet on Friday and Saturday.
Despite the McLaren GT4 car is drastically different to drive than a single-seater, Pujeu made quick progress throughout both day to finish on top form. On Friday, after four private test sessions, Pujeu clocked a time of 1m12.778s after completing almost forty laps on the French track. On Saturday, with more experience under his belt, Pujeu further improved to set a best lap of 2m11.120s, which was just a few tenths off the fastest GT4 car.
Pujeu stressed that “Friday was just a first taste of the car and discover a full new experience in comparison with other cars I drove. Saturday was way much better and I felt more confident to push the limits and set competitive lap times.” The Spaniard added that “on the whole, the team proved to be competitive as we sometimes managed to monopolize the top-three. Now we have to analyze the information to prepare the second Winter Series event at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, our final stop ahead of the season start.”
Pujeu will complete the second Winter Series round in Barcelona next 8-9 March.
