Isaac Tutumlu claimed an historic achievement for Kurdistan Racing Team at Nürburgring. The German circuit saw another round of the DMV GTC championship, in which Tutumlu drives a Car Collection Motorsport-entered Audi R8 LMS wearing the Kurdistan Racing Team colors. Despite it was the very first round for the team, the Spaniard of Kurdish ancestry achieved an impressive podium finish for them.

After a promising start to the weekend on Friday, Tutumlu headed into qualifying confident about being in pole position contention. The driver of the Kurdistan Racing Team clocked a time of 1m55.628s, a mere tenth slower than the pole position time set by Simon Reicher and only four thousandths behind Kenneth Heyer’s best time. Later in the race, Tutumlu ran in the top-three for the entire race and ultimately took the checkered flag in third place. Besides, Dimitri Parhofer and he finished seventh in the Dunlop 60, a sixty-minute race held on Friday.

“I feel over the moon with such an amazing result! It was our first start for Kurdistan Racing Team and we already achieved such a strong podium finish. It is a superb achievement. For sure this is only a first step of a long list of podiums and wins” explained Tutumlu. Besides, he added that “I moved into the lead at the start but they passed me again as I lost the braking point. I ran in third behind Heyer and Reicher but I couldn’t put them under pressure as I started to struggle with tire wear at the end, due to we use the same tires on which we previously qualified. Anyway, Heyer’s Mercedes was way to strong due to BoP. In fact, all Mercedes cars were. Just a fact, gentlemen drivers challenged Uwe Alzen for win! Let’s start preparing Hockenheim for next month, where I hope to add more podiums to my tally and, why not, even a win!”
