Niederwil: The R-Motorsport driver squad for the GT World Challenge Europe – Endurance and Sprint Cup – is now complete. Max Hofer (20, Austria), Hugo de Sadeleer (22, Switzerland) and Ricky Collard (22, Great Britain) have been named as the R-Motorsport drivers for 2020. The Swiss team will be announcing its full motorsport programme for the year in the very near future.

Max Hofer, who is the latest addition to the team, will share a cockpit with the Silver Cup pairing of de Sadeleer and James Pull. Like most GT3 drivers of the younger generation, the 20-year-old from Perchtoldsdorf in Austria started his motorsport career in karting. After contesting the 2015 ADAC Formula 4, Hofer graduated to the Audi Sport TT Cup and the ADAC TCR Germany before making his ADAC GT Masters debut in 2018. Hofer made an instant impression by qualifying on pole position and winning the first race of the season. After a second season in the ADAC GT Masters, Hofer has now made the switch to GT3 endurance racing with R-Motorsport.

Max Hofer: “I’m looking forward to a new stage of my career with R-Motorsport in the GT World Challenge Europe. R-Motorsport are one of the best and most professional teams in international GT3 racing. I just can’t wait to get going for the Swiss outfit in the season opener.”

Switzerland’s Hugo de Sadeleer will again compete for R-Motorsport in the Silver Cup category and for the first time in the Pro class. After early successes in formula racing, he switched to the LMP2 category in the European Le Mans Series in 2017. De Sadeleer had an impressive season, scoring two wins and an additional podium to finish second overall. In 2018, he came third in the LMP2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 2019, de Sadeleer competed for R-Motorsport in the Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe and finished second in the Silver Cup classification. In 2020, the young Swiss driver will compete for R-Motorsport in both the GT World Challenge Europe and the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.

Hugo de Sadeleer: “My debut year with R-Motorsport had a highly satisfactory outcome with the runner-up spot in the Silver Cup classification of the GT World Challenge Europe. Building on this experience, I am very pleased to have the opportunity to compete in the Endurance races as well as the Sprint Cup races. I am very much looking forward to a season in which I will see frequent and varied action.”

Ricky Collard was also part of the 2019 R-Motorsport driver setup. Now 22 years old, the Brit also took his first steps in karting. After successes in the MSA Formula and British Formula 3 series, he made the move across to GT racing in 2016. Over the past three years Collard has gained a wealth of GT3 racing experience, including in the Blancpain GT Series. He competed in the 2019 Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe and the 24 Hours of Spa for R-Motorsport and won a sprint race at the Nürburgring together with Marvin Kirchhöfer. This year Collard, who has become a PRO after his successful season with R-Motorsport, is concentrating on the GT World Challenge Europe.

Ricky Collard: “I feel very much at home with R-Motorsport and can hardly wait for the new season to get started. Our first year in the Sprint Cup was already promising in so many ways. After sharing the victory with Marvin at the Nürburgring in 2019, we will obviously be aiming to have a say in the destination of this year’s title.”

Team Principal Dr Florian Kamelger: “Max is the latest arrival in our driver line-up and, together with Hugo and Ricky, he fits well into our young and ambitious team of aspiring talents. Because in addition to our constant desire to fight for victories at all times, one of our most important objectives here at R-Motorsport is to advance the careers of talented young drivers. Ricky’s career, who has become a PRO as a result of his successful season with R-Motorsport, is ample proof of how well our system works.”
